As a nearly life-long resident of Minnesota, I've had an opportunity to explore much of the state. My primary interests are camping and fishing, and in Minnesota, a person can spend a lifetime exploring campgrounds, forests, hiking trails and lakes. Minnesota is also home to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW), a million acre area that contains some of the most pristine lakes on the planet.

This site is a collection of observations and stories about camping and fishing. I don't claim to be an expert in either domain. I have, however, stumbled upon a few tips and tricks in the pursuit of my hobbies. I also hope to offer some thoughts on how to assemble equipment without spending an enormous sum of money.

In 2013, I worked with Arcadia Publishing to publish a collection of fishing-related photos from Minnesota's past. I spent many weekends during 2012 traveling across Minnesota to visit museums and search through archives for interesting photos of anglers from years past. There are a lot of great photos sitting in boxes and binders and I enjoyed having the opportunity to share those in this collection.

The result of that project is Minnesota's Angling Past, a 128 page book that provides a glimpse of the time when boats were made from wood and propelled by rowing; when great fishing spots were found through experience rather than electronics; and, for some, a suit or dress was proper attire for a day of fishing. This is a great gift for the angler or history buff in your life!
